Susan Sarandon Shows Off Ping Pong Skills at ZYNC/SPiN Event

This past weekend, while fashionistas were crowding the runways, casual Susan Sarandon came out in the rain to ZYNC from American Express’ US Open Live event in Madison Square Park to play some ping pong. Passersby stopped to watch as Susan went head-to-head with two of ping pong’s best professional players. She also shared news about her upcoming reality show, her affiliation with SPiN (the New York ping pong social club) and why ping pong is her favorite sport.

Second Annual Charity Casino Night & Texas Holdem’ Poker Tournament!

Monday night, Merchants NY was the place for poker and cigars! The Second Annual Texas Hold’em Charity “Poker Smoker” and Casino Night was great fun for all, and the prizewinners walked away with some great stuff!   The event was sponsored by Friends of Fresh And Green. President and founder Trish Hack-Rubinstein poses here with husband and secretary Gregg Rubinstein. She travels to the Academy several times a year and is the cornerstone of the organization.

1st Annual GFDD Golf Tournament

Major League Baseball greats Juan Marichal and Orlando Cepeda will participate in the 1st Annual GFDD Golf Tournament, to take place September 22, 2010 at the historic Saint Andrew’s Golf Club, located in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. The benefit will help support the Foundation’s numerous projects and programs that seek to provide educational and professional opportunities for Dominicans in the Dominican Republic and for the Diaspora, in areas critical to the advancement and modernization of the Dominican Republic, in partnership with recognized international organizations.

“The programs that GFDD implements have already contributed to helping hundreds of Dominican youth to have a better future,” stated the acclaimed Dominican baseball player Juan Marichal. “It's because of this that I am so enthusiastic about being part of an effort that seeks to support the higher education and professional development of my compatriots.” Marichal, commonly known as the “Dany Dominicano,” and Orlando Cepeda, one of the San Francisco Giants most powerful batters, will compete with other renowned guests and world-class golfers under Stableford rules, aggregate-medal play full handicap. In a statement Cepeda expressed, “I am very honored to be participating together with Juan [Marichal] in GFDD’s 1st Golf Tournament. It will be great to share with golfers and fans two things we love: passion for the sport and support for our people.”
